So, I went into school today to take care of a few things (and to earn some Puritain work ethic points), only to discover my three goldfish thoroughly traumatized by the recent cold snap.
"We're going into a state of near hibernation," they said! "We feel awfully close to dead!"
Two of them perked right up when I turned on their light. ("Oh! It's not winter time on the tundra?").
One did not make it through the day.
I bought them a heater. I left them a slow-release food tablet.
Poor fishies.
We had a fishy for a college roommate - Anakin (we had another one - Obi Wan - but we think Anakin killed him...). He was left alone all of Thanksgiving vacation one year. In our defense, we thought the house would be used for vacation housing, but they changed it at the last minute. My roomie got to him first, and revived him by setting his bowl on the television to warm him up.
It worked.
And he didn't even become a goldfish version of the Hulk...or Spiderman...or anything! He lived happily ever after.
Hopefully, Xavier and Goldie will do the same...

made a neat pile...
left it by the door.
Sounds like the beginning of a groovy country song to me, but I may be the only one.
Anyway, I did make a neat pile by the door of my classroom before I left this evening.
And there it rests.
Ah well.
Must be a sign.
