Hey, so, we taught Puck to roll over! (I was going to start that sentence with, "I'll bet you didn't even know we were trying, but...however, the ramifications of starting anything that way on a blog read almost exclusively by my female relatives was too amusingly horrific to allow...even though I would have cleared up any misunderstandings very quickly with, "We taught Puck to roll over.").
That reminds me, I once came home to a message on my answering machine from my seester saying, "Congratulations, you're an Aunt!!"
Turned out, she and her boyfriend had just purchased a dog...but, for about 2.3 seconds, boy oh boy...I was like, "I didn't even know they were trying!"
Hence, the caution in today's posting.
The unexpected consequence of training Puck to roll over has been that it is now much harder to get him to lie down. He lies down, and quickly flips himself right over.
To say "flips himself right over," actually paints a rather inaccurate image.
He actually flips over in two halves: front, then back. This is easier to manage, primarily, I believe, because his back half is so much heavier than his front half. He needs momentum.
He's incredibly ungainly, our Puck. Rolling over, it sounds like he's going to knock the house down: kathump...scrabble, scrabble...THUMP. Add on to that his uncontrollable excitement knowing that someone's about to ask him to roll over (or lie down...what ev'), and his uncontrollable excitement at having actually acheived the task, and gadzooks, you've got yourself quite a show: jump, hop, pantpantpant, kathump, scrable, scrabble, THUMP, hop-hop (grin)...or something like that.
Whatever it is, it is the exact opposite of gainly. But, it is purty darn cute.

Puck's cousin is so jealous. He is going to have to work up something, maybe save Timmy from a volcano or something.
The cats yawned.
